Why Sixtyrocks Exists

I launched Sixtyrocks because I wanted somewhere that felt like a club — but not the kind with golf trousers, name badges, or tea dances. Nothing wrong with any of those things, of course (well, maybe the trousers), but this space is something different. For me, Sixtyrocks started as a way of finding purpose in life after 60 — not through big, dramatic gestures, but in the everyday moments that still make me laugh, learn, and live fully.

It’s not about nostalgia or slowing down. It’s about real life, right now. A life that just happens to be happening after 60.

We’re still here — and we’re still going. Parenting, creating, travelling, laughing, learning. And yes, occasionally forgetting why we walked into a room. But this isn’t a space for moaning about getting older. It’s a space for owning it.

Why Life After 60 Needs Spaces Like Sixtyrocks

Sixtyrocks began with a simple thought: Where do people like me go online?

Somewhere between retirement planning websites, arthritis ads, and inspirational 80-year-olds doing skydives, I realised something was missing: a place that reflects the honest, often hilarious, reality of life after 60.

Because let’s face it — life after 60 is weirdly underrepresented. We’re either told to take it easy or to start climbing mountains in Lycra. But what about everyone in between?

The ones juggling grown-up kids and grandkids. Managing part-time work or full-time dreams. Starting businesses, writing books, or just trying to understand TikTok. That’s where Sixtyrocks comes in.

It’s not a movement. It’s not a lifestyle brand. It’s a friendly corner of the internet with a doormat that says: “Come on in, the kettle’s on (or the wine, if it’s after 5).”

Who Life After 60 Is Really For

Sixtyrocks is for anyone who’s not ready to fade into the beige background. You might be 60, 70, or still approaching the milestone — but you’re already thinking, “Hang on a minute… what about me?”

It’s for people who’ve been the sensible ones for decades, and now want to reclaim a bit of chaos. It’s for those raising children in later life or helping with grandkids. For those travelling in campervans, starting new hobbies, or building businesses.

It’s for everyone who sees this chapter not as a winding down, but as a chance to reimagine what the next act could look like. For practical tips on wellbeing over 60, Age UK has some great resources

What You’ll Find Here

Expect a mix. Some days, it’s blog posts — reflections, rants, and recommendations. Other days it’s YouTube videos from holiday park trips or honest reviews of places we’ve visited.

You’ll find practical stuff — like socks that don’t cut off circulation, tech tips that make life easier, and holidays that don’t make you feel 106.

Yes, we talk about health — but not in a preachy way. Think: dodging type 2 diabetes without living off kale, or surviving Center Parcs archery with 11-year-old twins.

And there’s always room for laughter. Because there’s nothing quite like the comedy of life when you stop pretending you’ve got it all together.

Why I’m Glad You’re Here

I’m not here to be an influencer. I won’t tell you how to live your best life, or that everything smells of roses after 60. But I do believe in community, truth-telling, and real connection.

So this is me — showing up. Sharing stories. Listening to yours. And building a space where we can just be real.

Sixtyrocks is still growing — like me, like all of us. Maybe it’ll evolve into a brand. Maybe it’ll stay a blog with good vibes and the world’s comfiest bamboo socks. Either way, if you’re here, you’re part of it.

We’re not done. We’re not invisible. We’re just getting interesting.

Thanks for being here.

This is life after 60 — and it rocks.
