Ty Mawr Holiday Park
We stayed at Parkdean Ty Mawr Holiday Park in Towyn, North Wales, during an early Easter break while visiting the nearby forests around Llyn Geirionydd and exploring the North Wales coast. Ty Mawr turned out to be a great-value base with plenty of activities for families, good transport links, and easy access to places like Llandudno and the Great Orme.

Facilities
Ty Mawr has a wide range of facilities and activities including high ropes, archery, survival-style courses, buggy rides, football pitches, craft workshops, and a large indoor swimming pool with slides. There is also a clubhouse with evening entertainment, amusements, a supermarket, restaurant, and chip shop.
Food and Drink
Ty Mawr has a good range of food options on site including a restaurant and bar in the clubhouse, a chip shop, ice cream stand, and a supermarket for essentials. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was good and reasonably priced. The on-site shop was also very useful for breakfasts and snacks, meaning you could easily stay on site for most of your break if you wanted to.
Things To Do Nearby
Ty Mawr is well located for exploring the North Wales coast. During our stay we visited Llandudno and rode the Great Orme Tramway, which the boys loved. Towyn beach is within walking distance, and the bus stop outside the park connects to nearby coastal resorts along the bay.
Getting there and Map
Getting There
Ty Mawr Holiday Park is easiest to reach by car via the A55 North Wales Expressway, then follow signs for Towyn.
If travelling by train, the nearest station is Abergele & Pensarn, about 1–2 miles from the park, which is a short taxi ride or a longer walk. Rhyl station is also nearby with more frequent trains.
There is a bus stop very close to the park entrance with regular buses running along the North Wales coast between Rhyl, Towyn, Abergele, Colwyn Bay and Llandudno, which makes it possible to get around without a car.
Our Thoughts
Ty Mawr felt like a great-value alternative to somewhere like Center Parcs, with lots of activities for children but at a much lower price. The bus stop outside the park was very useful, and the location makes it a good base for exploring Llandudno, the Great Orme, and the wider North Wales coast. We would definitely return, especially for off-peak lodge stays.
