Accommodation at Hengar Manor Holiday Park
Hengar Manor offers a range of accommodation, including caravans, lodges and other holiday options, set amongst the trees and countryside of North Cornwall.
Our Platinum Caravan – More Like a Lodge!
We stayed in a Platinum caravan, and it was genuinely one of the nicest caravans we’ve experienced on our travels.
From the outside, the timber-clad accommodation looked more like a contemporary holiday lodge. But it was stepping inside that really impressed us.
The living area had a wonderful sense of space, thanks to the high vaulted ceiling, exposed timber features and large windows. The teal-coloured feature walls, stylish furnishings and wooden finishes gave it a cosy, modern feel.
The open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen were particularly impressive, with plenty of room for the four of us to relax without feeling on top of each other.
We also loved the French doors opening onto the decking, which made the accommodation feel connected to the surrounding woodland.
Bedrooms, Bathroom and Outdoor Space
The bedrooms were comfortable and well presented, and the bathroom had something we don’t often find in a caravan — a proper bath!
Outside, we had our own decking area, with parking conveniently close to the accommodation. This made unloading the car and bringing in our filming equipment particularly easy.
The setting was peaceful, with trees and greenery around the accommodation, giving it a more secluded feel than some of the larger holiday parks we’ve visited.
Other Accommodation Options
Although our Platinum caravan was a real highlight, Hengar Manor also offers other accommodation types to suit different budgets and preferences.
As always, we’d recommend checking the exact accommodation specifications before booking, as layouts, facilities and locations within the park can vary.
Our verdict on the accommodation: The Platinum caravan was a standout feature of our stay. Stylish, comfortable and surprisingly spacious, it genuinely felt more like staying in a holiday lodge.
Facilities
Hengar Manor has a good range of facilities for families, but what makes it a little different from some larger holiday parks is its peaceful countryside setting.
The park is surrounded by trees and greenery, with the historic manor house adding plenty of character.
Indoor Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi
The indoor swimming pool is one of the main attractions at Hengar Manor, particularly for families visiting outside the summer season.
There’s also a Jacuzzi area where adults can relax while enjoying the pool facilities.
We visited during October, so having an indoor pool was particularly welcome when the Cornish weather wasn’t cooperating!
Family Activities and Entertainment
There’s plenty to keep children entertained around the park, including:
An outdoor children’s playground
An amusement arcade
A clubhouse with entertainment
Open spaces and grounds to explore
The entertainment facilities provide somewhere to spend the evening without having to leave the park, while the quieter surroundings make Hengar Manor feel less hectic than some larger holiday resorts.
Shop and Other Facilities
The park has an on-site shop selling everyday essentials, which is handy if you’ve forgotten something or need a few supplies during your stay.
There’s also a reception area where guests can get information and assistance.
We particularly liked the combination of modern facilities and the traditional surroundings of Hengar Manor. The old manor house gives the park a distinctive character, while the woodland setting makes it an attractive place simply to wander around.
Our Thoughts on the Facilities
For us, Hengar Manor strikes a good balance between having enough to keep families entertained and providing a relaxing countryside break.
It’s not a huge, action-packed resort, but that’s part of its appeal. You can enjoy the pool and entertainment, then return to the peace and comfort of your accommodation.
As with any holiday park, opening times and activities can vary by season, so it’s worth checking what’s available for your dates.
Food and Drink
Hengar Manor has an on-site restaurant and bar, making it convenient to enjoy a meal or a drink without leaving the holiday park.
We ate at the restaurant during our October 2026 stay and were very pleased with the food. We also took advantage of a two meals for £25 offer, which we thought represented excellent value.
It’s always worth looking out for meal deals when staying at a holiday park, particularly when you’re travelling as a family and the cost of eating out can soon add up.
Our Experience of the Restaurant
We enjoyed the meals we had at Hengar Manor. The food was good, the restaurant was welcoming, and it was lovely to have somewhere to eat after a busy day exploring Cornwall.
The bar and clubhouse also provided somewhere to relax in the evening, with entertainment available during our stay.
Breakfast – An Unexpected Discovery!
We had planned to enjoy breakfast at the park restaurant, but when we arrived, we found it was closed.
We asked at reception, where the staff were very apologetic and explained that breakfast wasn’t served during quieter, low-season periods because there wasn’t enough demand to make it cost-effective.
What impressed us was that they didn’t simply leave it there. They recommended Beare’s Café, at a nearby garden centre just a short walk from the park.
It turned out to be an excellent recommendation!
We enjoyed a fantastic breakfast made with local produce. It wasn’t the cheapest breakfast we’ve had, but the quality was excellent, and we felt it was worth the money.
Although it would have been convenient to eat breakfast on site, we appreciated the helpfulness of the reception team and their willingness to suggest a good alternative.
Our tip: If you’re visiting Hengar Manor outside the main holiday season, check whether breakfast is available before making plans. And if it isn’t, Beare’s Café is well worth considering.
Look Out for Food and Drink Offers
Park Holidays UK occasionally runs promotions that can make eating and drinking on site more affordable.
During 2026, for example, selected midweek bookings qualified for £50 worth of buy-one-get-one-free food and drink vouchers, subject to dates and conditions.
These offers change throughout the year, so it’s worth checking the latest promotions before booking.
Our Thoughts on Food and Drink
Overall, we were very happy with the food at Hengar Manor, particularly the value offered by the two-meal deal.
The lack of breakfast service during the quieter season was a minor inconvenience, but the helpful response from reception and their excellent local recommendation left us with a positive impression.
For us, it was another example of the friendly service we experienced during our stay.
Things To Do Nearby
Hengar Manor is a great base for exploring North Cornwall, with historic attractions, picturesque villages and spectacular coastline all within driving distance.
We explored several places during our Cornwall trips, and here are some of our favourites.
Lanhydrock House and Gardens
During our stay at Hengar Manor, we visited Lanhydrock, a beautiful National Trust property near Bodmin, with an impressive Victorian house and extensive grounds.
We also set ourselves a rather unusual family mission: to find the old Victorian swimming pool hidden in the grounds!
It was great fun exploring the estate looking for it, and we were delighted when we finally found it. There’s much more to Lanhydrock than just the house, so allow plenty of time to explore.
Tintagel Castle
One of Cornwall’s most spectacular attractions, Tintagel Castle is famous for its links to King Arthur.
We crossed the dramatic footbridge, explored the castle ruins and admired the magnificent coastal views. Be prepared for steep paths and plenty of steps!
You can watch our full Tintagel Castle adventure on SixtyRocks.
Bodmin Jail Experience
For something completely different, Bodmin Jail offers an atmospheric journey into Cornwall’s darker history.
We experienced its immersive displays and sometimes rather spooky special effects. It’s a fascinating attraction, although some scenes may be frightening for younger children.
Port Isaac and the North Cornwall Coast
The picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac, famous for Doc Martin, is well worth exploring.
Other lovely coastal destinations include Padstow, Polzeath and Boscastle, where you can enjoy harbour walks, coastal scenery and traditional Cornish cafés.
Exploring Further Across Cornwall
If you’re happy to travel a little farther, there are plenty of other wonderful places to visit.
Some of our favourites include:
St Michael’s Mount – a spectacular tidal island with a historic castle.
Looe – a traditional harbour town where we enjoyed crabbing and an exciting RIB sea safari.
Kynance Cove – one of Cornwall’s most beautiful coastal locations.
The Eden Project – famous for its enormous biomes and gardens.
We’ve featured several of these attractions on our SixtyRocks YouTube channel, so you can see what they’re like before planning your visit.
Our Thoughts on the Location
Hengar Manor combines a peaceful countryside setting with plenty of opportunities for days out.
A car is particularly useful for exploring the surrounding area, but there’s more than enough to keep families entertained for a week or longer.
Our tip: Mix sightseeing days with time enjoying the park itself. With accommodation as comfortable as our Platinum caravan, you might be tempted to stay in!
Getting there and Map
Hengar Manor Holiday Park is situated near the village of St Tudy in North Cornwall, a short drive from Bodmin.
The park enjoys a peaceful countryside location, away from the busier coastal resorts, making it an attractive base for exploring the surrounding area.
Travelling by Car
For most visitors, travelling by car is the easiest option. The park is accessible from the main road network around Bodmin, although the final part of the journey takes you along smaller Cornish roads.
We recommend using the park’s full address or postcode in your sat nav rather than relying solely on the name.
Parking was conveniently close to our Platinum caravan, making unloading our luggage and filming equipment particularly easy.
Getting Around
We would recommend having a car when staying at Hengar Manor, particularly if you plan to explore Cornwall’s beaches, villages and attractions.
The park isn’t particularly convenient for travelling by bus, and many of the surrounding attractions require a drive.
Some areas of the park are also on slopes, which is worth bearing in mind if you have limited mobility.
Our tip: Hengar Manor is particularly suited to visitors who enjoy a peaceful countryside base and are happy to drive out for their days out.
Our Thoughts
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hengar Manor, and it turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises of our recent holiday park visits.
The biggest highlight was undoubtedly our Platinum caravan. With its timber-clad exterior, vaulted ceiling, exposed wooden features and stylish interior, it felt much more like a luxury holiday lodge than a traditional caravan.
We’ve stayed in plenty of holiday parks over the years, but this was genuinely one of the nicest caravans we’ve experienced.
We also loved the peaceful countryside setting, the character of the historic manor house and the range of facilities available for families.
The food in the restaurant was good, particularly with the two meals for £25 offer, and we were impressed by the helpfulness of the staff.
Although breakfast wasn’t available at the park during our October visit, the reception team’s recommendation of nearby Beare’s Café led us to one of the best breakfasts of our trip!
Who Would We Recommend Hengar Manor To?
We think Hengar Manor would particularly appeal to:
Families looking for a holiday park with a swimming pool, entertainment and space to relax.
Couples and older visitors who enjoy peaceful surroundings and comfortable accommodation.
Visitors exploring Cornwall who want a countryside base rather than a busy seaside resort.
It’s worth remembering that Hengar Manor isn’t directly on the coast, so you’ll need to drive to reach the beaches and many of Cornwall’s attractions.
Our Verdict – ★★★★★
We give Hengar Manor Holiday Park five stars for our stay.
The combination of beautiful accommodation, attractive surroundings, enjoyable facilities and friendly service made this a memorable family break.
Would we return? Absolutely!
And if we could have that same Platinum caravan again, we’d be very happy indeed.
