Butlins Bognor at 60 – A Surprisingly Brilliant Break

We’ve just come back from four nights at the Ocean Hotel in Butlins Bognor Regis during the summer half-term — and it really surprised us. I’m 64, Elaine’s 58, and our twin boys are 11. This is our first Butlins Bognor review for older adults, and we weren’t sure what to expect. But this trip turned out to be a highlight — and the perfect topic for our rebranded YouTube channel Sixty Rocks. First Impressions – A Welcoming Start for Older Guests

We arrived to find the hotel lifts out of order. Not ideal. But to their credit, the staff were fantastic — helping carry our bags and even offering me the service lift. I declined (I can handle stairs, thanks), but it was appreciated. Food & Dining – Butlins Bognor Review for Over 60s

The Ocean Hotel’s dining plan included buffet breakfast and dinner — and honestly, it exceeded expectations. It was right inside the building (no need to brave the weather), and the range of food was excellent. We saw a couple of older guests with zimmer frames cleverly using them to carry trays — and staff stepped in to help. That sort of care goes a long way.

Activities for All Ages – Butlins Accessibility Review

Table tennis at Butlins Xperience Centre Glow Pong was a hit with the kids — we watched and vowed to join in next time! VR game at Butlins Bognor Xperience Centre The VR centre looked amazing. We didn’t play — but it’s ideal for all ages, and could be great for older guests too.

Evening Shows – Butlins Ocean Hotel Experience

Studio 36 venue – Butlins Bognor for older adults Studio 36 hosted a range of shows — from kids’ performances to tribute acts for all ages. You can pay a little extra for priority access to Butlins shows, which means skipping the queue and choosing a table near exits or toilets — something older adults or those with accessibility needs may appreciate.

Coastal Walks & Relaxation – Butlins for the Over 60s

Bognor Regis seafront near Butlins Ocean Hotel Just outside the Butlins gates — Bognor Regis prom is a great spot for a stroll. We loved stepping out of the resort and onto the promenade. It’s flat, accessible, and full of little cafés for a gentle wander or fish and chips in the sea air.

Would We Go Again?

Absolutely. This Butlins Bognor review for older adults might surprise a few people — but the Ocean Hotel offered comfort, fun, and care that exceeded expectations. If you’re wondering whether Butlins is just for families with toddlers — think again.
